Lester's military medals
  • Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Medal is awarded to those members of the United States Armed Forces who have distinguished themselves by non-combat meritorious service or achievement while assigned to a joint activity. The DMSM is usually awarded to those serving in leadership positions and performing exceptionally outstanding work. This is the third highest peacetime Defense award.
  • Joint Service Commendation Medal. Meritorious service or achievement while assigned to a Joint Activity. Medal is awarded only to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement or service.
  • Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Heroic or meritorious achievement or service.
  • Joint Service Achievement Medal. The JSAM shall be awarded only to members of the Armed Forces of the United States below the grade of O-6 who distinguished themselves by outstanding performance of duty and meritorious achievement while serving with a Joint Activity.
  • Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. The Joint Meritorious Unit Award is awarded to Joint Activities of the Armed Forces of the United States which have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious achievement or service in pursuit of joint military missions of great significance.
  • National Defense Service Medal. Any honorable active duty service during specified periods. Bronze Star Device for 2nd award.
  • Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Awarded to soldiers who have participated in or served in support of Global War on Terrorism Operations on or after 11 September 2001.
  • Navy Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Awarded for honorable and satisfactory service as a member of one or more of the Reserve Components of the Armed Forces of the United States for a period of 10 years within a 12-year period. Device: Silver hourglass to indicate 20 years service.
  • Navy Expert Rifleman Medal. Attainment of the minimum qualifying score for the expert level during prescribed shooting exercises.
  • Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal. Attainment of the minimum qualifying score for the expert level during prescribed shooting exercises.
